OWL Outdoor Wallowa Learning

Every year Wallowa County 4-6th graders participate in a weeklong outdoor school. Kids explore Wallowa County’s plants, water, wildlife, and geology. We collaborate with schools to develop curriculum that meets state standards. OWL seeks to increase youth understanding of how changes in the enviroment and human use occur over time, especially in Wallowa County.

Each year Outdoor School occurs at a different location so that kids see different parts of the valley. Past sites include:

  • Wallowa Lake State Park
  • The McDaniel’s Ranch and River Restoration
  • USFS Williamson Campground on the Lostine River
